The Area & Directions
The Bitterroot Valley has numerous canyons and trails to hike and explore. They vary from very gentle to the challenging Trapper Peak at 10,153 feet which is still capped with snow pack even in late summer. We have hiked or ridden many of the trails, and we'll be glad to help you plan your perfect hiking/riding adventure.
World class fly fishing is found throughout the valley ranging from pristine alpine lakes, to sparkling creeks with deep pools to the winding and varied Bitterroot River. We work with the top fishing guides in the valley, and we would be more than glad to help arrange your fly fishing lessons or your float trip.
Annual events include rodeos, the Pow-Wow, the Blue Grass Festival and our award winning county fair. Our guests also enjoy exploring the Daly Mansion, the Big Hole Battlefield, antique stores and a wide variety of western clothing and art shops. We can recommend a varied assortment of restaurants for your dining pleasure from casual or gourmet!
There is nothing like exploring the varied terrain of the Bitterroot Mountains by horseback. The trails are well maintained by Back Country Horsemen and the Forest Service. The views...stunning! It is not unusual to spot herds of deer, elk, big horn sheep, or a flock of dazzling bluebirds.
There are a number of water related activities to enjoy during your stay in our valley -- from exciting white water rafting to gentle float trips to paddling a canoe on majestic Lake Como.
After a full day of activities it is wonderful to relax around the fire, share stories of the day's adventures and wonder at the magic of Big Sky starry nights!!
